Mark your calendars for the 21st Annual Regatta at Lake Arthur - August 3rd & 4th, 2019

Education Tent

The Regatta at Lake Arthur brought an exciting NEW addition to this year’s 20th Anniversary event… the Education Tent! This tent was filled with Park friends’ groups informing and educating visitors about the natural resources of Moraine State Park and all that it has to offer.

Visitors learned about the butterfly life cycle from the Butler Butterfly Lady, heard about the history of Moraine State Park from author Polly Shaw, and familiarized themselves with nature through demonstrations by Specialty Outdoors. Many met the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Flotilla Commander as he taught on Water Safety, and relaxed for some storytelling by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust - Citizens Bank Children's Theater Series & EQT Bridge Theater Series.

Hearing from The Grist Mill Baker about the history of breads and grains from the mid-1800s (with samples included!) was a plus for history fans, and learning about Moraine State Park’s oil history from 3MJC was interesting for all. Moraine Sailing Club and Lake Arthur Sailing Club booths provided sailing information and sign-ups, too.

The Education Tent allowed visitors to experience Moraine State Park in a new, comprehensive way at this year’s Regatta at Lake Arthur. Every age appreciated and enjoyed unique content from our partnering organizations!
